How to Login to Your NETGEAR Router

To get started, your device must be connected to the NETGEAR router’s WiFi or via Ethernet. Follow the steps below:

Method 1: Using a Web Browser

  • Open a browser
  • Type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar.
  • Enter Username: admin
  • Password: password and click OK.

Once logged in, you’ll land on the router dashboard where you can control network settings, update firmware, and more.

Prefer a mobile-friendly option? The NETGEAR Nighthawk app makes managing your home network easier than ever.

  • Download the app (App Store or Google Play).
  • Connect to the router’s WiFi using your smartphone or tablet.
  • Open the app, then sign in with your NETGEAR account.
  • Access features like device management, speed tests, and parental controls.

How to Change Password and WiFi Name (SSID)

Want to update your network name or password? Here’s how:

Log in via routerlogin.net.

Navigate to the Wireless Settings tab.

Enter your new WiFi name and Password

Click Apply to save changes.

No worries — you can recover your admin password easily:

  • Visit routerlogin.net.
  • Click Cancel when the login screen appears.
  • You’ll be redirected to the Password Recovery page.
  • Find your router’s serial number on the bottom label and enter it.
  • Answer the security questions correctly to reveal your password.

Can’t remember the answers? Perform a factory reset using the button on the back of your router.

If you’re having trouble accessing your router:

  • Make sure your device is connected to the correct WiFi network.

  • Clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
